Despite being busy with a six-week-old and an almost three-year-old we managed to have another fun half day at a horse show a few weekends ago!
My friend who graciously offered her pony for my little equestrian to ride at WEC was in the area showing at our local fairgrounds for medal finals. Once again, she offered her pony for the lead line class and LE was quite excited to ride in another show, so I decided we might as well!
Once again I took LE to the show the day before to cheer on our friend and say hi to her pony. LE was especially interested in watching flat classes and cross rails classes this show. Her ring side commentary has changed from general "good jump" or "he might have a rail" to more along the lines of what you would hear a coach say- "easy, easy", "right leg keep him straight", "canter, canter!" It was too adorable and making everyone around us smile.
Leadline was the first class of the day right before the Grand Prix so we had to get up pretty early to make it to the show in time, but somehow, we all got out the door, nothing was forgotten, and we all had a great time.
Baby sister is obviously still too young to really notice much of what is going on, but she seemed as entertained as a six-week-old could be staying awake almost the whole time we were there and not crying once.
Taking LE to horse show is definitely the next best thing to getting to show myself. I have no idea if it will just be a phase or continue, but it's been so fun to see her love of horses grow.
Also this was our first big outing as a family of four, it seems so fitting that the last outing as a family of three and now the first one as a family of four were to horse shows. I know it makes at least two of us very happy!
